INHALT

U-Boot-Kommandant Lars Gößing und seine achtundzwanzig Mann starke Besatzung Delta haben den Auftrag, mit ihrem U-Boot U 31 an einer Marineübung der Royal Navy teilzunehmen. Knapp zweitausend Kilometer Überwasserfahrt von Eckernförde bis Plymouth in Südengland liegen vor dem Kapitän und seiner Besatzung.
Nach fünf Tagen auf See schlägt das Wetter um. U 31 kämpft sich durch die aufgepeitschte Nordsee, bei Seefahrern bekannt als eines der gefährlichsten Seegebiete. Die Situation spitzt sich zu, als die Besatzung eine Hurricane Warnung für das Seegebiet erhält, auf das sie Kurs nehmen.

SYNOPSIS

Submarine commander Lars Gößing and his twenty-eight-man crew Delta are to take part in a naval exercise of the Royal Navy with their submarine U 31. Almost two thousand kilometres of surface travel from Eckernförde to Plymouth in southern England lie ahead of the captain and his crew.
After five days at sea, the weather changes. U 31 struggles through the choppy North Sea, known among sailors as one of the most dangerous sea areas. The situation comes to a head when the crew receives a hurricane warning for the sea area they are heading for.

Ein gewichtiger Brocken und eine kurze, komplizierte Strecke: Ein 70 Tonnen schwerer Transformator muss ins Umspannwerk. Doch die Zufahrtstraße ist eine nur 2,75 Meter breite Gasse mit einer engen Kurve – für einen 30 Meter langen Schwertransport kaum zu schaffen…
Zuerst muss er auf einen schmaleren Tieflader umgeladen werden. Mit Hubzylindern werden die 70 Tonnen angehoben. Über Schienen soll der Koloss dann von einem Fahrzeug auf das andere gerollt werden. Eine gefährliche Arbeit: Die halbe Million teure Fracht kann im Graben landen oder gar einen der Männer schwer verletzen.
Ein acht Mann starkes Einsatzteam koordiniert die Umladung. Mitten drin: ein Ruheständler. Trotz seiner 71 Jahre packt er kräftig mit an. Der Schwertransportspezialisten hat fast ein halbes Jahrhundert wertvolle Berufspraxis aufzuweisen und  wird von seinem ehemaligen Chef angeheuert, sobald es besonders kompliziert wird.

Synopsis

A heavyweight and a short, complicated route: A 70-ton transformer has to go to the transformer station. But the access road is an alley only 2.75 metres wide with a tight curve – hardly manageable for a 30-metre-long heavy transport…
First it has to be reloaded onto a narrower low-loader. The 70 tonnes are raised with lifting cylinders. The colossus is then to be rolled from one vehicle to the other via rails. A dangerous job: the half-million-dollar cargo could end up in a ditch or even seriously injure one of the men.
An eight-man team coordinates the reloading. In the middle of it all: a retiree. Despite his 71 years, he lends a hand. The heavy transport specialist has almost half a century of valuable professional experience and is hired by his former boss whenever things get particularly complicated.

Uni-Klinik Notaufnahme!
UNIVERSITY hOSPITAL: emERGENCY rOOM

Plötzlich schellt das Telefon durch die Notaufnahme des Universitätsklinikums Schleswig-Holstein. Eine Voranmeldung. Höchste Alarmstufe. Ein kleiner Junge wurde von einem Auto angefahren. Noch weiß niemand, was für Verletzungen er hat. Pfleger Bert Ivers hat 5 Minuten, um den Schockraum für den kleinen Patienten vorzubereiten, während Ärzte aus unterschiedlichen Fachrichtungen herbeieilen.
Dann kommt der Junge ins MRT – auf den Bildern ist glücklicherweise nichts zu erkennen. Den Eltern fällt ein Stein vom Herzen und auch Bert Ivers ist sichtlich erleichtert. Tagtäglich bekommt der Pfleger in der Notaufnahme vor Augen geführt, wie zerbrechlich das Leben sein kann. (Quelle: produktion clipart/NDR)

Synopsis

Suddenly the telephone rings through the emergency room of the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein. An advance notification. Highest alert level. A little boy has been hit by a car. No one knows yet what kind of injuries he has. Nurse Bert Ivers has 5 minutes to prepare the shock room for the little patient while doctors from different specialities rush in.
Then the boy goes into the MRI – fortunately, nothing can be seen on the pictures. The parents‘ hearts are lifted and Bert Ivers is visibly relieved. Every day he is confronted with how fragile life can be.

Die fast 263 Meter lange Mein Schiff 2 läuft den Kieler Seehafen an. Wohl in keiner Hafenstadt der Welt legen die schönen Kreuzfahrtschiffe so zentral mitten in der City an. Für Nicole Borowy beginnen 14 Stunden Dauerstress. Ausgerüstet mit mehreren Funkgeräten und Handys koordiniert sie 60 Hafenarbeiter, Gabelstaplerfahrer und Hostessen. Als Kaimanagerin trägt sie Sorge für die Abfertigung des Kreuzfahrtschiffs: Kaum sind die alten Passagiere runter, wollen 2.000 neue aufs Schiff.- eine logistische Herausforderung.

Sobald der Ozeanriese um 7 Uhr morgens festgemacht hat, tickt die Uhr für die Kaimanagerin und ihre Mitarbeiter. Es müssen 3.500 Koffer durch eine kleine Luke von Bord und anschließend in einem Zelt aufgebaut werden. Akkordarbeit für die Männer in den roten Latzhosen. Ein Gepäckband wie am Flughafen gibt es hier nämlich nicht. Doch heute ist irgendwie der Wurm drin: Die Rampe zum Entladen macht Probleme…

Synopsis

The almost 263-metre-long cruise ship Mein Schiff calls at Kiel’s seaport. There is probably no other port city in the world where the beautiful cruise ships dock so centrally in the middle of the city. For Nicole Borowy, 14 hours of constant stress begin. Equipped with several walkie-talkies and mobile phones, she coordinates 60 dockworkers, forklift drivers and hostesses. As quay manager, she is responsible for the handling of the cruise ship: no sooner have the old passengers gone down than 2,000 new ones want to get on board – a logistical challenge.

As soon as the ocean liner docks at 7 a.m., the clock starts ticking for the quay manager and her staff. 3,500 suitcases have to be taken off the ship through a small hatch and then set up in a tent. Piecework for the men in the red overalls. There is no luggage conveyor belt like at the airport. But today, somehow, there is something wrong: The unloading ramp is causing problems….
